Installation will take place along Magnolia Drive, Meadow Drive, Garden Way, and Marigold Way in Salinas. Work is being performed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., and the project is expected to be completed in mid-October.
"This investment in the water system ensures that the Salinas community will continue to have safe and reliable water service now and long into the future. It also ensures our firefighters have the water they need in the event of an emergency," said District Manager Brenda Granillo. "These improvements are part of our promise to provide quality, service, and value to our customers and communities."
After completion of the project, water lines will be flushed to ensure water quality and water samples will be taken. Cal Water is committed to conservation and will only flush as long as necessary to fulfill water quality requirements. Once test results are returned, individual water service connections will be tied to the new main.
Every effort will be made to minimize traffic delays during construction, and all impacted streets, sod, and landscaping will be restored to as close to the previous condition as possible, according to Granillo. Temporary asphalt will be applied until permanent paving is completed approximately 30 days after project completion. This time delay ensures the road surface will be smooth after permanent paving is completed.
