Cal Water news release

The project, which began this week and is expected to take six weeks to complete, includes the installation of 2,063 feet of new 12-inch ductile iron water main. Crews will also install five new fire hydrants and 20 new individual service connections. Installation will take place on Ringwood Avenue, from Middlefield Road to Coleman Avenue.

"This proactive infrastructure upgrade will enable us to continue delivering a reliable supply of safe, high-quality drinking water to area residents, both now and for years to come. Additionally, it will help first responders protect the community in the event of an emergency," said District Manager Dawn Smithson. "This project is an important part of our promise to deliver quality, service, and value to our customers."

Construction will be performed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Some work in Menlo Park will be done on Saturdays due to the close proximity to Menlo-Atherton High School. Crews will make every effort to minimize traffic delays and ensure residents in the impacted area have access to their homes during construction.

Following installation, crews will conduct water quality testing and connect individual service lines to the new water main. Water service will be temporarily interrupted for one to two hours as crews connect customers' service lines to the main; however, Cal Water will notify residents in advance of any planned shutdowns, which are normally scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Crews will also restore all streets, sod, and landscaping impacted by the construction.
