Cal Water will install close to 4,900 feet of new PVC pipe, which generally does not rust or corrode and is considered to be more cost-effective than other alternatives. This allows the new main to last longer and serve the community for generations to come, according to District Manager Frank Vallejo.
Work is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The project is expected to take approximately 16 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
"Strengthening our infrastructure with continued investments like this is a critical part of Cal Water's commitment to providing our customers with quality, service, and value," Vallejo said. "The new main we are installing will ensure our customers get the water they need, when they need it, both now and well into the future."
Crews will fill all trenches at the end of each day and will apply temporary asphalt. Permanent paving will be applied at the conclusion of the project, and any impacted landscaping will be restored to as close to original condition as possible.
