Cal Water ha comenzado dos proyectos de mejora de la infraestructura que fortalecerán la confiabilidad en el sistema de agua y la resistencia de la infraestructura, y mejorarán la protección contra incendios para los clientes de Menlo Park.
Crews are installing 700 feet of new 6-inch PVC water main on American Way, from Valparaiso Avenue to the end of American Way, and1,760 feet of new 12-inch ductile iron water main on North Lemon Avenue, from Valparaiso Avenue to Santa Cruz Avenue. Work on both projects is being performed Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and is expected to be completed by early March.
"These proactive, systematic water main replacements help support our promise to deliver quality, service, and value to Menlo Park residents and businesses," said District Manager Dawn Smithson. "In addition to ensuring that we can continue to deliver safe and reliable water service to our customers, these projects also include the installation of five new fire hydrants to help ensure first responders have access to the water they need in an emergency to protect our community."
Following installation, water service will be temporarily interrupted for one to two hours while customer services are connected to the new water mains and put into service. Residents will be notified in advance of any planned shutdown, which is normally scheduled during regular work hours.
According to Smithson, crews will make every effort to minimize traffic delays during construction. Additionally, when the projects are completed, all streets, sod, and landscaping impacted by the construction will be restored to as close to the previous condition as possible.
