The project, which began in January, included the installation of 1,180 feet of new 8-inch water main and 220 feet of new 6-inch water main. Additionally, crews installed 65 new 1-inch customer service connections and three fire hydrants.

"This important infrastructure upgrade will help protect against leaks and ensure we keep providing a reliable supply of safe, high-quality drinking water to our customers. And, replacing three aging fire hydrants will also make sure our first responders have the water they need to protect the community in an emergency," said District Manager Brenda Granillo. "These improvements are part of our proactive investment in the water system infrastructure so we can continue to deliver quality, service, and value to Salinas residents and businesses."

The project took place on Polk Street, Polk Circle, and Monroe Street in Salinas near Laurel Park. Crews conducted water quality testing at the completion of the project before connecting individual water services to the new main, and restored all impacted streets, sod, and landscaping to as close to the previous condition as possible.
