"Water main replacement projects such as this are critical to our commitment of ensuring safe and reliable water delivery to our customers, as well as providing firefighters the water supply they need to protect our community," said District Manager Dawn Smithson. "This project is just one example of Cal Water's promise to provide quality, service, and value to our customers."
The project includes the installation of about 1,500 feet of new 8-inch PVC water main to replace the existing main on Oakside Avenue, from Fair Oaks Avenue to Northside Avenue. Two additional fire hydrants will also be installed to improve fire protection in the area. The work will be performed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Every effort will be made to minimize traffic delays during construction.
When construction is completed, all streets, sod, and landscaping impacted will be restored to as close to the previous condition as possible. Temporary asphalt will be applied until permanent paving is done approximately 10 days after project completion. This time delay is necessary to allow the trench to become fully compacted so the road surface is smooth being paved.
