Cal Water news release

The project, which is expected to be completed by June, includes the installation of 1,500 feet of new 6-inch PVC water main. Crews are also installing six new fire hydrants to ensure firefighters have access to the water supply they need to protect the community in an emergency.

Installation will take place on:

  • Park Avenue, between Summer Street and Dillon Beach Road
  • Summer Street, between Park Avenue and Cypress Avenue
  • North Street, between Ocean View Avenue and Cypress Avenue

Crews will work to minimize traffic delays and any other temporary inconvenience during construction, which will take place Monday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Following installation, crews will conduct water quality testing and connect individual customer service connections to the new water main. All streets, sod, and landscaping impacted by the construction will be restored to as close to the previous condition as possible.

"At Cal Water, we continue to make proactive investments in our infrastructure to ensure customers and first responders have a safe, clean, and reliable water supply for their everyday and emergency needs," said Tavis Beynon, Cal Water's Redwood Valley Operations Manager. "While infrastructure improvements are essentials, they can come with construction headaches; that is why we are limiting our construction days to Monday to Thursday, so weekend traffic is not impacted."
