La primera fase de la actualización de Salinas está a punto de completarse

Cal Water está a punto de completar la primera fase de una mejora de la infraestructura de agua que beneficiará la confiabilidad del suministro de agua y la protección contra incendios en la zona este Salinas. Traffic control is currently in place for the project, which is replacing 2,026 feet of new water main, but in coming weeks will be reduced as crews complete the first phase of the project. The project's second phase is expected to begin in October.

"We thank the business and commuters along Alisal Street for their patience during construction. Infrastructure improvements like these help Cal Water maintain a reliable water supply for both everyday and emergency situations," said Brenda Granillo, Salinas District Manager, of the project that began in January. "Additionally, proactive maintenance and upgrades to our water system help prevent small, manageable issues from escalating and becoming more expensive to fix, which helps keep water service affordable for customers."

After the main is installed, crews will culminate phase one by replacing 46 service connections and 10 fire hydrants east of Highway 101 on Alisal Street, between Kern Street and Pearl Street.

Work will continue into May, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Customers will continue to be notified of any traffic disruptions or work required after normal construction hours.

Phase two of the infrastructure improvement project is projected to start in October, with reduced traffic impacts in the area. Crews will replace the remaining water line on Alisal Street, installing 1,753 feet of 12-inch main and 73 feet of 6-inch main. During this time, crews will be working between Pearl Street and Sanborn Road.

Temporary asphalt will be applied until permanent paving is completed, which can be up to 30 days after project completion.
