Cal Water welcomed customers and their families to Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach to celebrate its century of "Trust on Tap" during a free community event on Sept. 12, 2026. The celebration featured food, fun, an adopt-a-plant giveaway, community partners, and opportunities to get to know the team working to provide safe, clean, reliable water to about 450,000 people in the South Bay each day.
"Our commitment to 'Trust on Tap' means delivering safe, clean, reliable water to our customers' homes and businesses, while investing in the infrastructure and partnerships that help our communities thrive," said Ralph Felix, Cal Water's Rancho Dominguez District Manager. "We had a fantastic time celebrating this milestone with the customers and communities that have trusted us for generations and continue to place their confidence in us every day."
During the afternoon, customers learned how Cal Water's Rancho Dominguez District operates, maintains, and continually improves its water systems. For example, over the last decade, Cal Water has invested $32.6 million in the Hermosa-Redondo system, including 212 miles of water pipe, three wells, 20.2 million gallons of storage, and 1,586 fire hydrants. Attendees also received free drought-tolerant plants through the company's Adopt-a-Plant program, and learned about water conservation resources available to them, including rebates available for popular indoor and outdoor conservation-related products. The celebration was one of several events taking place across Cal Water's service areas throughout the year, as the company commemorates its centennial and reinforces its dedication to providing safe, clean, reliable water service for generations to come. Founded in 1926 by three World War I veterans, Cal Water has grown from serving four California communities to more than 20 districts throughout the state. In the South Bay, Cal Water established operations in 1927, while Dominguez Water Corporation began providing water service in the company's Dominguez system in 1911.
The Rancho Dominguez District serves customers in Carson, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and portions of Compton, Harbor City, Long Beach, Lomita, and Torrance.
