Carson: Temporary Flushing in Progress

Este aviso contiene información muy importante sobre su agua potable. Para una copia en español, favor de llamar al sistema de agua (310) 257-1400.

Today, September 3, we were notified of taste, odor, and color issues affecting some customers in the area shown on the map below. This was due to an issue in the treatment maintenance process. An ion exchange regeneration process was in progress when the treatment plant shut down, as designed, in response to a high-pressure alert. When operations were restored, a small amount of discolored, salty water from the regeneration process was inadvertently introduced into the distribution system instead of being directed to a separate tank, which is designed to receive and contain this flow.

As a result, some customers in this area may notice discolored water and/or a salty taste. Although these aesthetic impacts may be noticeable, preliminary information concludes that the water continues to meet federal and state drinking water standards. Crews have since been conducting multiple rounds of flushing to clear the affected water out of the water system.

Although this is not an emergency, we want to let you know what happened and ask our customers in this area who may be experiencing taste, odor, or color issues to flush their tap until the water clears. Cal Water crews are continuing to flush the distribution system and collecting additional water quality samples out of an abundance of caution to verify that normal water service has been restored.

Crews will work as quickly as possible to move any remaining affected water out of the system and complete testing. Le agradecemos su paciencia durante este tiempo. Si tiene alguna pregunta, comuníquese con nosotros llamando al (310) 257-1400.
