Thousand Oaks Water Infrastructure Upgrade

Cal Water begins a water infrastructure upgrade in east Thousand Oaks this week to strengthen water system reliability and fire protection for local customers. Crews will install 1,150 feet of new 12- and 6-inch water main in a two-phase project that is expected to be completed by the end of August.

"Protecting our customers' health and safety is our highest priority, and that begins with having infrastructure that is ready to meet their daily and emergency needs," said Mike Jasper, Westlake District Manager. "Proactively replacing aging water main allows us to continue delivering a reliable supply of safe, clean water to the community and local first responders before that infrastructure becomes unreliable."

During the first phase, crews are working on Arroyo Oaks Drive and Bridgewood Lane, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The second phase will occur on Westlake Boulevard, just north of Hillcrest Drive. Customers in the immediate construction area will be notified of any brief water service interruptions required during the main installation. Crews will also make every effort to minimize traffic disruptions in the area.

Temporary asphalt will be applied until permanent paving is completed approximately 30 days after project completion. This waiting period allows the trench to fully compact, helping provide a smoother road surface when finished.
